About Us

Our Story

Our story is quite simple.  Aasia and I are connected at the hip.  We do just about everything possible that a mother and 14 year-old daughter can do without injuring myself.  Among taking our frequent Mommy & Me trips to local get-a-ways, we have our favorite spots throughout the Dallas Metroplex where we slip away for hours at a time to talk, share, and fellowship.  One of our favorite spots is Starbucks in Southlake, TX.

One beautiful day in December 2019 we were sitting outside and started talking about how much we would like to have a line of skin care and well-being products that nourish and moisturize not only our African-American skin types and skin tones, but all skin types and skin tones.  We started talking about our favorite oils, essential oils, and what makes our skin feel absolutely great without any irritants.  Nearly one year later, we developed a line of  homemade whipped sugar scrubs and bath sea salts that we love and use ourselves.  This was the beginning of Brown Skin by Aasia Symone.  The name Brown Skin by Aasia Symone came about because we wanted a name that celebrates being women of color and the beautiful hues that brown skin represent. We wanted our company to be connected to our African culture and still bring awareness of self-care and wellness to all cultural.

While this is a mother & daughter collaboration, I wanted Aasia to be the face and the lead of this small business and be empowered to have her own company.  So, while I craft these amazing blends, many of them are her creations that I have tried to bring to life.  I am excited to partner with my daughter to create a wonderful line that includes natural and organic ingredients.

We are starting with bath sea salts and sugar scrubs, but our line will ultimately extend to more products many of which we are in the early stages of development.

Thank you for visiting Brown Skin by Aasia Symone.  We hope that you will join our mailing list so that we may keep you abreast of our new product lines and blends as we introduce more in months to come.

Many blessings,

Karen & Aasia
